Shredded Wool Pellets Information

No Wool Wasted

Wool of any grade used to be a source of income for sheep producers. However, traditional markets to sell lower quality wool have almost disappeared and many PA farmers take heavy losses or can't sell their wool at all. Shredded wool pellets made in PA using Pennsylvania wool represent a natural and local alternative to synthetic or imported soil amendments for growers and gardeners, and the proceeds go directly to PA sheep producers and PSWGA programs.

Instructions for Use

Mix shredded wool pellets into soil for added moisture retention and aeration. Use in outdoor pots or garden beds at 1/4 cup of pellets per quart of sandy soil or heavy clay soil. Less is needed when mixing into enriched soil. Pellets are natural and biodegradable and slowly add nutrients to the soil. The pelletizing process heats the material to the point of sterilization. As with any organic matter the pellets may have an odor - outdoor use is recommended.
